Belcanto Restaurant by José Avillez, Lisbon
The Belcanto restaurant opened in 1958 in Chiado, in the trendy São Carlos square next to the São Carlos National Theatre and the house where Fernando Pessoa was born. Its singular location at the historic centre of Lisbon, its sober, sophisticated atmosphere, the discrete and attentive service, and the delights at its cuisine, soon won over Lisbon's elite who turned the Belcanto into the place to be seen.
In the summer of 2011, Chef José Avillez took an interest in Belcanto and began an extensive refurbishment of the kitchens and dining areas. José Avillez's Belcanto re-opened at the beginning of 2012, totally renewed.
José Avillez and his team look at haute cuisine as a form of expression. At the Belcanto they share their inspirations, emotions and concerns through their culinary representations and illusions. Each dish tells a story and sets out to stir the emotions of those willing to try it.
Michelin Guide review: (2016) Behind the Belcanto's discreet façade in the Bairro Alto (a district popular with tourists) guests will be surprised to find elegant dining rooms with a classic yet contemporary feel. Its talented chef conjures up creative cuisine combining technical skill and imaginative flair. The end result is beautifully prepared and presented. It can be enjoyed via various menus, each as enticing as the next.
Michelin Guide review: (2013/2014) Belcanto is situated behind a discreet façade in the typical Bairro Alto district. It has two attractively decorated dining rooms. Both are furnished in a classic, contemporary style and both boast views of the kitchen. Traditional dishes form the basis of the menu, alongside more creative cuisine with an innovative touch.

Pedro Lemos Restaurant, Porto
Our project was built on essential bases. Add value to our space, Oporto and Portugal, showing and introducing traditional products and Portuguese gastronomy. Our goal is to offer experiences and memorable moments, not just another meal but an unforgettable and singular experience. To awake senses. Offering new sensations.
The concept goes thru re-creating recipes that grow and drink from our traditional roots. Without it there is no love and without love there is no creation. Now in its restaurant, Pedro Lemos works with passion and creativity, serving delicious and exquisite dishes, elegantly.

Alma Restaurant, Lisbon
Chef Henrique Sá Pessoa has been known for innovating Portuguese cuisine for quite some time, and after working at some of the best restaurants in town and having his own TV cooking show, he opened his own restaurant in 2009, in the Santos district. In 2015 he moved to Chiado, where he continues to innovate and to develop his talent.
The stone-arched interior is decorated with warm colors and wool and cotton tapestries, about 3 meters in diameter, made by Portuguese artists.
It presents à la carte and tasting menus, always of Portuguese cuisine but with a few Asian influences. Don’t be surprised if some of the dishes are served by the chef himself, or if they’re finished in front of you.

With a simplified approach to modern European cuisine, Danler-Heinmann uses the freshest seasonal ingredients and avoids extravagant presentation. This results in range of European dishes such as mustard rabbit with vegetables and “escargot” butter, pigeon “ettoufe” served with chantrelle mushrooms and spinach ravioli, and wiener schnitzel with creamy cucumber. Several different fixed-price menus offer a range of dining experiences. A wide selection of Portuguese and international wines is considered one the best in the region.
